No joke, I once saw an f250 on I-70 carrying 7-10ish mattresses, stacked well over 12' tall and the ratchet strap was hooked to the rear fender.

I’ve done that in my truck... but they were foam mattresses that you could bend to fit anywhere. And I had 3 in the cab. But I didn’t strap to the fenders.

I see this on the freeway at 60 mph everyday, but usually secured with a shoe string or some such.

It probably took more time and effort to get that load to stay where it is than it would have done to make two trips, too...
